Free Events in January for the Entire Family – Valley Center,CA

Most of us don’t think to try our local library for fun things to do. Valley Center library has an amazing array of events for all the family and they are free.

Even if you don’t feel like being a part of some activity it’s really a fun place to hang out. In winter there’s a roaring log fire and comfortable armchairs, they even supply blankets to snuggle up to if its really chilly.

You can just sit and enjoy the beautiful views of the rolling pasture and mountains.

There’s even a second hand book store where you can pick up some great bargains.

The Following are just a few of the events offered -

For Children:

Art Tuesday: Mom you can take a break  while the kids express their creativity, Tuesdays, 3.30 p.m.

Homework Helpers (ages 7-18) Teachers help children with homework. Sign up in advance. Wed 6-7pm

 Teens:

Gamer’z Haven:  Practice electronic games for the library’s big Gamez Championships. Thursdays, 5-7 p.m.

and Sword Fighting Workshops: (Ages 10-20) Free sword fighting lessons three times a week. Wed, 3.30-5.30p.m. Fri, 3.30 – 5p.m. Sat, 2.30 – 5 p.m.

Adults:

Yoga: Gentle moves, perfect for beginners. This is really a great class – Gerri is a wonderful teacher. Tuesday/Thursday, 5-7 p.m.

Web-Wise Seniors: Computer Instruction for beginners. Thurdays, 10 a.m – 1 p.m.

San Diego Youth Opera Ensemble: Thursday, Jan 8, 6 p.m.

North County San Diego New Years Eve Pool Party

If you enjoy swimming,dancing and live music this one should be a fun way to celebrate, and its great for all the family, also priced very reasonably, which is the best part! Lets ring out the OLD year and bring in the New one at this New Years Eve Extravaganza.

Enjoy tasty tapas by the pooside from 5pm – 10pm. Watch the fireworks fom LEGOLAND at 6pm outside in the Palm Courtyard inside the 90 degree heated pool, or snuggle under heatlamps end enjoy the last festivities of the year.

You will be able to watch around the world celebrations on tv screens throughout the courtyard, and even better FREE champagne toast at midnight with sparkling apple cider for the little ones.

If you feel really hungry there will be a New Years Eve dinner for $85.00 per person – hope you like lobster ravioli, as this is included on the menu.

New Years Eve Event – First Night Escondido, CA 2009

This is a great way to spend New Years Eve with the Family. It will be the 14th annual First Night Escondido.

Plenty of attractions for everyone. All along Grand Avenue and at the Escondido City Hall and California Center for the Arts, you will find live performing arts, music and art workshops. A great selection of food and fireworks to offer families a fun and alcohol free celebration.

Come and dance the night away under the stars while the kids get free face painting and watch the AMAZING high-in-the-sky Walking Tree Man!

Fireworks at 9pm and MIDNIGHT!

Ticket prices:

  • $10 in advance – purchase at Vons or Major Market  
  • $15 at the door
